The Naked Face Challenge was started by Deanna, though I only recently heard of it through Jess. For the most part, I *never* post photos of myself without make up, and if I do, I’m wearing a hat so you can’t really see my face anyway. I have sun damaged skin that is a little blotchy (remember your SPF, kiddos!) and I’m a bit self-conscious about it. I once had someone try to wipe my face because they thought there was dust on it. FUN. Anyway…
The first photo I took for the challenge, of course, was run through Instagram and filtered. I liked the way it turned out, but after I thought about it for a minute, it wasn’t true to the nature of the challenge. What you’re seeing here is me, unfiltered and fresh-faced – and yes, a little blotchy.
What you can’t see here is the patch of eyebrow that I yanked out during a misguided and ultimately failed attempt at waxing my own eyebrows this evening. Seriously, that shit is not as easy as it looks (or else I’m really just that big a mess – probably the latter).
Tonight, I encourage you all to do something to step out of your comfort zone. It doesn’t have to be THIS, and it doesn’t have to be tonight, but you should do something. It’ll be neat, promise.
xo – Heather.

Well for what it’s worth, you look beautiful.
Heather,
look at you. you’re beautiful. The fact that you were able to come out of your comfort zone (which I happen to know is something you rarely do) is inspiring. I look up to you, which is something I’ve never said and is also very true. Keep at it girl.
Mad props to you! I don’t really wear a lot of makeup anyway, but I think I’ll do one of these posts tomorrow. I like the message behind them.
Also, pssstttt….I tagged you in a getting-to-know-you type dealio. Come check it out and play along: http://sophieplayshooky.blogspot.com/2012/02/getting-to-know-me.html
Thanks for the inspiration. Sometimes one needs that nudge to do something out of their comfort zone. and for the record, I think your beautiful without make up.
